Underfoot Feel

The three main benefits offered by the Cascadia 17 are:

The cushioning results from Brooks DNA Loft v2 midsole foam. This is the same material used in some of Brooks' most popular road running shoes. Soft and lightweight cushioning for sections of hard ground.

Mountain goat hooves were the source of inspiration for a lot of the grip pattern. Helping you to tackle tough terrain with confidence.

A Ballistic Rock Shield sits between two layers of DNA Loft v2 foam. A rock shield can make a midsole feel stiffer, but it does protect your feet from sharp or pointed stones and rocks.

Finally, Trail Track Rubber technology provides traction in both wet and dry underfoot conditions.

Upper Fit

The upper has a very accommodating fit - which is very much what you should expect from trail shoes that are designed for varied terrain. 

The TPU toe cap helps to increase the upper's durability. 

Ideal Run Type

The Brooks Men's Cascadia 17 Running Shoes are best for trail runs of varied but not extreme terrain. If you are planning a trail run involving sections of road, mud and rocky sections - then this is when the Cascadia 17 will be at their best. 

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
